GEORGE RICHARD KNIGHT joined the Royal Welsh Fusiliers 2nd Battalion approximately June1915 aged seventeen and a half. He was sent to Clipstone Camp in Nottinghamshire a quarter of a mile from Sherwood Forest on the 1st July 1915. In the following months the infantry moved to Wiltshire for intensive training on Salisbury Plain. Orders were recieved to move overseas on the 4th November 1915,GEORGE RICHARD KNIGHT was eighteen years old. Her Majesty the Queen inspected the Division at Figheldean Down on the 8th November and within a few days entrainment for France began. THIS SITE IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION. WHEN IT IS FINISHED IT WILL CONTAIN DETAILS OF RESEARCH INCLUDING SHORTCUTS TO FINDING YOUR LOST RELATIVES OF THE GREAT WAR IT WILL ALSO CONTAIN THE BIOGRAPHY OF MY GRANDFATHER WHO WON THE M.M AT HIGHWOOD.
